The 1906 Canada census covered only the Prairie Provinces. It was started on June 24, 1906, and enumerated over 800,000 people. Information recorded in the census includes: name, gender, relationship to head of household, marital status, age, birthplace, and immigration year.<br><br>The 1906 census was the first regularly scheduled census of the Prairie Provinces. The same census was thereafter conducted every 10 years until 1956. The purpose of this special census was to measure the high population growth occurring in this part of the country during the first half of the 20th century. Note: records for some sub-districts have not survived; in some instances, this may account for negative search results.
